Frequently Asked Questions – Walking Tour Amsterdam
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, reservations are required. According to the rules of the municipality of Amsterdam, guides are not allowed to gather spontaneous groups on the street. By booking in advance, you ensure yourself a spot and we adhere to the city's policy.
How do I recognize the guide?
Our guide will be at the agreed-upon meeting point, the square opposite Elandsgracht 73, 10 minutes before the start. You'll recognize him or her by a canvas bag or umbrella with the Urban Legends City Quest logo.
Who are your guides?
Our guides are true locals with experience in Amsterdam’s iconic museums – including the Anne Frank House – and in education. They share a passion for urban legends and a keen curiosity about the hidden histories behind them. We believe discovering the city should be as fun as it is meaningful. In short, you’re not just joining a tour, but an engaging, interactive experience led by a real expert with a love for stories.
Where does the tour end?
The standard tour The 1.5-hour walk ends at the Noordermarkt. From there, you can find a cozy pub or restaurant in the Jordaan.
Will the tour be cancelled if it rains?
Yes, you read that right. Rain or shine, we're going out! The tour may only be canceled in extreme weather conditions (code yellow, orange, or red). In that case, we will contact you.
In which languages is the walking tour of Amsterdam offered?
Our Amsterdam city walk is available in Dutch and English. You can indicate your preference during the booking process.
What makes this urban legends tour unique?
Besides the unique stories told at historical locations, you'll play Urban Legend Bingo along the way and sample a sweet, traditional Amsterdam snack. Our guides bring 750 years of history to life with a playful twist!
Is the tour suitable for children?
Our standard tour is suitable for children aged 13 and up. There are some mysterious or exciting stories, but nothing that will scare you too much. Looking for a child-friendly tour? With a private tour we can tailor the stories fully to your group's needs.
How many people are in a group?
We deliberately keep our groups small: a maximum of 12 participants per tour. This keeps the experience personal and interactive.
